Jitter is defined as a variation in the delay of received packets. The sending side transmits packets in a continuous stream and because of network congestion, queuing ..etc the delay between packets can vary instead of remaining constant.

In NetSim ‘jitter’ is defined as the variance of delay. Variance is statistically defined as the square of deviation from the mean.

Jitter is not directly available in the results window of NetSim and needs to be calculated from the event trace.

Note:

From v12 of Netsim, Jitter for each application is available in the Application metrics present in the result dashboard.

Attached is a document explaining the steps is available at www.tetcos.com/File_Exchange/Help/NetSim-v10-help-delay-jitter-throughput-eventtrace.docx
