Applicable Version | Netsim Pro |
Applicable Releases | v11 | v12 | v13 |
(NOTE:
- From v12 of Netsim, TDMA/DTDMA protocols are present as a separate module namely, TDMA Radio Networks.
- In v11 of Netsim, TDMA/DTDMA protocols are present in MANET module)
A slot planner can be used to configure a predefined slot allocation pattern for the nodes in the network. Based on the configuration done, slots will be allocated to the devices during the simulation. Multiple/continuous slots can be allocated to the same node or to different nodes as per the requirement.
- Create a network scenario in NetSim MANET/TDMA Radio Network and configure applications
- In the wireless nodes set the MAC and PHY protocol to DTDMA
- To access Frequency planner, set the slot allocation Technique to FILE BASED:
- Click on the Open Slot Planner link to get the Frequency Planner window:
- To set the slot allocation pattern, enter the Number of slots in the text box and click on OK.
- If you prefer to allocate slots to all devices in the network, you will have to enter the number of slots equivalent to or greater than the number of devices in your network scenario. The pattern defined by the user will be repeated throughout the simulation.
- Use the radio buttons to allocate a specific slot to a particular device matching the row which contains the device name and the column which contains the slot id.
Here the slots are allocated in the order, Wireless Node 1, 3, 4, 2, and 5.
- Click on Submit button to apply the configured pattern.
- Enable packet trace and event trace options and run the simulation.
- At the end of the simulation click on the Open event trace link in the results window to access the event trace.
- Once the event trace is loaded in excel, format it as a table using “Format as table” option:
- In the column Subevent_type, filter only DTDMA_SCHEDULE_Transmission
- After applying the filter, in the column Device_Id you will be able to observe the slot allocation pattern as per the configuration done in GUI. Wireless Node1, 3, 4, 2 and 5 , which is equivalent to Device Id 1, 3, 4, 2, 5
- In a similar way, slot allocation patterns can be defined for Multiple MANETs also. Here you will have multiple tables in the slot planner, corresponding to each MANET.
