v11.1
v12.0
v12.1

From v12.2 onwards, MME has been replaced with EPC in the LTE network.

Mobility Management Entity (MME) is a device that provides the necessary interfaces and protocols transmitting packets from the LTE Network to the Internetwork (internet). In other words, it provides end-to-end IP connectivity over the LTE network.

The Software Gateway functionality is built into the MME.

It can connect to

1. eNB's through the LTE Interface

2. Routers through the WAN Interface

3. Switches through the Ethernet Interface

The model allows X2-based handover between two eNBs. Radio Link failure is not modeled, and Handovers are always successful

NetSim currently supports only one MME, and hence inter MME mobility is not available.
