Configuration files of Network scenario's saved in NetSim v11.0 can be loaded in NetSim v11.1 using the following steps:
- Copy the saved experiment folder created using NetSim v11.0, that contains the Configuration.netsim file.
- Open the current workspace directory of NetSim v11.1. Default NetSim workspace will be the current workspace in most cases unless user has created a new workspace. This default workspace is usually located in "C:\Users\<Current-User>" directory.
- Paste the copied folder containing the saved experiment files inside the workspace.
- Now delete the .nsf file present in the workspace directory. This file contains the NetSim version information and details of the saved experiments in the workspace.
- To create an updated .nsf filewith information about the newly added experiment do the following
- Right click on NetSim shortcut in your desktop and select Open file location. This will open <NetSim_Install_Directory>/bin folder.
- Now open command prompt with NetSim bin folder as the current working directory. For this type cmd in the address bar of the file explorer and press enter.
- This will open cmd with current directory as NetSim bin folder.
- Now execute Nsf-generator.jar file using the command: "c:\Program Files\NetSim Standard\Jre\bin\java.exe" -jar Nsf-generator.jar
- Once the NSF utility is loaded, browse to the workspace folder which contains the newly added experiment and select the folder. After that click on OK to create an updated NSF file in the workspace directory.
- Right click on NetSim shortcut in your desktop and select Open file location. This will open <NetSim_Install_Directory>/bin folder.
- Now start NetSim and click on Open Simulation option. You will be able to find the newly added v11.0 experiment listed under the experiments.
- You can click on the experiment to load it in NetSim v11.1.
- NetSim v11.1 now has Application and Link graphics feature which is newly added. Due to this the link name may not be visible if v11.0 Configuration is loaded in v11.1. You can however right click on the link and select graphics and set the Link Name manually.
9. Upon completing the edits save the experiment again. This will ensure that the new configuration files has been updated per v11.1 format.
