The following error may appear when the user attempts to start NetSim by double-clicking on the desktop shortcut:


This error is displayed if the NetSim.exe that the shortcut is referring to, no longer exists in the NetSim Install directory. Softwares such as ESET Endpoint Security falsely detect NetSim executables as malware/Virus.

If any exe's in the NetSim gets deleted due to ESET Endpoint Security, here are some steps to add NetSim exe's as an exception in ESET EP Application without disabling the Antivirus protection. 


Step 1: Open ESET Endpoint Security through Taskbar.

Step 2: Click on SETUP

Step 3: Click on Computer

Step 4: Click on Settings Icon of Real- time file system protection. And click on Edit Exclusion.

Step 5: Click on ADD

  • Under Type Select Exclude Path
  • Under Path - Browse NetSim Installation Directory which looks like "C:\Program Files\NetSim\ Acad_v12_1" (In lower versions of NetSim, "C:\Program Files\NetSim Academic)

  • You can use Description as an optional.
  • Click on OK and SAVE


Note: If ESET Endpoint Security has previously removed the NetSimSimulation.exe, to restore NetSim.exe, you could reinstall NetSim either silently to save time or manually as per your convenience.
