3D mobility animation utility, when integrated with NetSim, provides a powerful way to visualize and analyze the movement of network devices over time. By using a mobility log file generated by NetSim as input, you can create dynamic animations that help in understanding complex movement patterns and interactions within network simulations. This enhances the ability to study network performance and optimize protocols.

Steps to use 3D Mobility Animation.exe utility:

  • Download and extract the 3D Mobility Animation.exe file from the link.
  • In NetSim, open/create a network configuration that has mobility configured in one or more devices.

  • Enable Mobility log from Configure Reports -> Plots -> Network Logs -> Mobility Logs, as shown in the figure below.

  • Run the simulation and upon completion, double click on the 3D Mobility Animation.exe file.
  • The utility will animate node movement as shown in the figure below.

Note: This utility does not plot the trajectories but shows an animation of the mobility configured. The inbuilt mobility models in NetSim are 2D models. However, the file-based mobility model allows users to vary the Z-axis as done in the above example.
